Elijah’s Promise: A Background
In an article on PR Newswire, it was started back in 1989. Three churches got together and started a soup kitchen. The local congregations were the ones who started it all. Over the years, students and businesses began to get involved. Local community groups also got involved. Through time and donations, Elijah’s Promise has really done a lot of good for the area of New Brunswick, New Jersey.
In 1997, Sam and the other founders started a culinary program. This program offers educational tools and skills for those looking to learn more about cooking and food. This is where some of the students got their start. Through this program, most of the students have been placed in food service positions, both full-time and part-time.
This training needed some financing. In 1998, a food program was started to help fund it. This catering business helps to provide meals to kids and adults who are home-bound. For more info about the company visit Bloomberg.com.
